Wheels to Work Bikes Arrive

Bridgend Community Transports “Wheels to Work” project has just takendelivery of 6 new Honda Scooters available for loan by people unable to get to work due to transport barriers. The “Wheels to Work” project, funded by the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales, is the only scheme of its kind serving younger people living, or working, in the South Wales Police catchment area.

As part of the scheme, scooters can be borrowed for an affordable monthly fee by scooter users who will also receive compulsory basic training and protective clothing so they can be confident riding scooters on the road. 

Bridgend Community Transports Interim Business Development Manager, Graham Cartwright said: “We are delighted we can finally help unlock barriers and create opportunities for younger people looking for a job or who want to get to work or training. We know it can be frustratingly difficult and expensive for them to travel.
